The Karaoke Entertainer of the Year Contest is America's largest (nearly 500 participating venues), most unique and exciting karaoke competition. The contest is divided into four different musical catgegories inlcuding: Pop, R&B, Country and Rock. The contest is judged exclusively by participating singers. Contestants score/judge everyone in the category for which they are competing, excluding themselves, and after everyone in their category has sung, they turn in a score card for the host to tally up and announce the winners. Contestants are judged on the following criteria: Vocal Ability (20), Entertainment Quality (20) and Likeability (10) for a total possible score of 50. During the qualifying round (which is held typically at around 30-50 participating karaoke venues), singers can choose to compete in one or up to all four musical categories. Contestants can only qualify for an in-house finals in ONE musical category but are eligible to qualify in all four musical categories by competing at four different venues. Singers need only to show up to a participating venue and register. Upon registering, singers must sing a qualifying song (for that week's musical category). The top three singers in each musical category each week advance to the in-house finals for that venue. In-house final winners will either advance on to a semi-final for their musical category or directly on to the area-wide finals (depending on how many venues are participating).At the AREA-WIDE FINALS, singers in each of the four musical categories compete for a total of $2,500 in cash prizes ($625 in each musical category -- $300-1st, $200-2nd, and $125-3rd). Each area-wide finals will also be taped for a later television broadcast shown in the metropolitan area where the contest is being presented. The overall winner in each of the four musical categories from each of the area-wide finals will also advance on to be contestants on Singsations U.S.A. which will be filmed in Las Vegas where contestants will compete for $10,000 in additional cash prizes.
